ACCP Foundation Pilot Project 2023
Immersive Mentored Skill Development Program (IMMERSE)
The ACCP Foundation is excited to announce a pilot career advancement program, the Immersive Mentored Skill Development Program (IMMERSE), and is inviting the Practice and Research Networks (PRNs) to participate. The purpose of IMMERSE is to fund and facilitate focused opportunities for full members of ACCP to acquire new skill(s) that will expand and/or enhance their clinical practice or research programs. Starting on May 15 and no later than June 15, 2023, the Foundation will accept applications from any PRN interested in co-sponsoring a Foundation-funded IMMERSE mentor/trainee advanced skill development experience. During the 2023 pilot project, the ACCP Foundation will select three PRNs to co-sponsor IMMERSE programs.
The PRNs selected will be asked to:
- recruit mentors interested in hosting an experience
- participate in selection of mentor/experience
- recruit eligible trainee participants
- participate in selection of trainee participants
The Foundation will provide program guidance and infrastructure, including the timeline for application/selection, online mentor and trainee application processing, and participant and mentor compensation. PRNs must apply to the Foundation to be considered and only one Foundation-funded IMMERSE experience may be co-sponsored by any one PRN.
Each IMMERSE program offered during the pilot is eligible to receive up to $8,000 in support from the Foundation. The mentor’s institution is eligible for up to $4,000 and the participant trainee is eligible for up to $4,000 to help defray costs of participation. Examples of participation costs may include, but not necessarily be limited to supplies, transportation, lodging, and meal costs associated with the experience. A budget justification will be requested at the time the detailed IMMERSE experience plan is submitted (see below).
Experience Format/Duration: IMMERSE experiences may vary in length from a minimum of 5 days to maximum of 4 weeks in person with or without supplemental on-demand learning modules/online components. Estimated program length and design should be described in the mentor’s application. The final experience plan will be determined by the mentor and participant trainee after the selection process is completed. Program experiences must be completed by September 30, 2024.
